Jacket Material Properties

Jacket Material Properties

  • Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) – Cost effective, flame retardant, temperature range -20 to +80 C. Environmental resistance good, chemical resistance poor, marginally flexible.
  • Polyurethane (PUR) – Flame retardant, temperature range -20 to +80 C., Environmental resistance very good, chemical resistance fair, highly flexible and abrasion resistant.
  • Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) – Flame retardant, temperature range -40 to +105 C, Environmental resistance good to excellent, chemical resistance fair to poor, highly flexible.
  • Halar/Vatar (ECTFE) – Highly flame retardant, temperature range -80 to + 150 C (Halar) + 125 C (Vatar), Excellent environmental, chemical and abrasion resistance, most cost effective of fluoropolymers, flexibility poor.
  • Tefzel (ETFE) – Aerospace grade, highly flame retardant, temperature range -80 to + 150 C, Excellent environmental, chemical and abrasion resistance and flexibility fair, lightweight.
  • FEP – Aerospace grade, highly flame retardant, temperature range -80 to +200 C, Excellent environmental, chemical, and abrasion resistance, flexibility good.
  • PFA – Aerospace grade, highly flame retardant, temperature range -80 to +260 C, Excellent environmental, chemical, and abrasion resistance, flexibility very good.
